BBQ Music? Seriously? On a food website? Uh, Yeah.

We’re going for the whole hog (pun intended) here on the bbq for foodies website.

If, if , you want a great bbq party, "BBQ Music" is essential. Or even if it's just a great afternoon, you need to do all the little things to make it right and "bbq music" again is a huge piece.

And it goes without saying, when you play the blues BBQ is the essential foodstuff.

After all, one thing Martha Stewart does very well (No wait, give me a minute) is that she pays attention to details, whether it’s special place settings or lighting.

Now I would never stoop to asking you to knit a special place mat for authentic bbq, but trust me, your bbq experience will be much more fun if you play some special music suited to the occasion, or even seek out a special beer, like Pearl, in Texas, or Abita Turbo Dog in Louisiana.

You can find the right beers, mixed drinks and, OK, even sodas, on the upcoming beverages page, but now we’re talking music...

Music is where bbq beats any other meal, because bbq lends itself to so much: country, blues, blue grass, southern rock, tejano, old country, swing, and gospel.

It is a veritable treasure trove of appropriate tunes.

For my restaurant, I literally spent months researching and stockpiling songs and playlists.

Itunes, has made this much much easier, and now with their Genius feature, you can easily compile a cool playlist if the tunes exist in your library. For those of you who don’t have a huge library, or don't know where to start, I am giving you some sample playlists.

If you follow the links below, you can go to itunes and check these out:

1. For some old classic country from the likes of Charley Pride and Merle Haggard, click here.

2. For some new country, with Shania, Kenny Chesney, and Carrie Underwood, click here.

3. Some old country, some new, a little Tejano, a little blues and some Toms Jones just for kicks.. click here.
