Ribs rub: fairy dust for bbq ribs...

This is a great ribs rub for pork ribs. As with any recipe rub should be made from the freshest spices, and stored in an airtight container.

Recipe:

2 Tb. Dry Mustard

1/4 cup paprika

1/4 cup chili powder

1/4 cup Lawry's seasoned salt

2 Tb. cumin

1/4 cup garlic powder

2 Tb. onion powder

2 Tb. salt

1 Tb. cayenne pepper

Mix ingredients together. To prepare your ribs, make sure they are skinned. Sprinkle the seasoning mix on the rack. Take a taste of the rub before hand to gauge the seasoning level.

Apply the rub according to your taste, but keep in mind the thickness of the slab. Ideally you'd like to have enough rub on the ribs that will "carry" through the ribs on each bite.

Prepare your smoker. I like to smoke spareribs and baby backs a bit hotter so I smoke at approximately 225-230 degrees. Use whatever wood you prefer, my preference is oak, although for baby backs, apple works nicely. Smoke the ribs for approximately 4-5 hours.
