They just “phone it in.” My view is this- if it’s part of the meal, it is worth some effort to do it right. I mean if I asked you who has the best french fries- you could probably tell me – right? You might not even remember the burger that came with it.BBQ sides are the same way. Now I will climb down off of my soapbox. The best potato salad. Great coleslaw. Insane baked beans that when mixed with the juices of the slaw on your plate and mingle with some bbq sauce and pork juices redefine what you are eating. And, even fried pickles. These are examples of great- and unique- bbq side dish recipes. Of course different parts of the country- different bbq regions- serve different side dishes. While you will find coleslaw and some sort of baked beans across all the bbq region- prepared differently of course- you will not find Brunswick stew in central Texas, nor Santa Maria style pinquito beans in Memphis. But that is part of the fun- remember the regionality of bbq I mentioned on the home page?
