Tri Tip Marinade
Tri tip marinade is a great way to jazz up your tri tip roast or steaks, and one of my favorite tri tip recipes. There a dozens of marinades out there, and any for beef will work. Whether the marinade is wine based, soy sauce based, or simple olive oil, rosemary and salt, you will need to marinated your roast a minimum of 24 hours for most tri tip recipes to allow the flavor to penetrate.

But if you must use gas, that’s fine too. The bit of liquid smoke in the recipe helps you in this department to achieve a smoky flavor. Of the gas grills out there, if you’re in the market for one, I highly recommend this one-

Yes, it’s expensive, but the capabilities are all there: On hot days and for convenience, you have aside burner to boil corn, heat up sauce, etc, without heating up the kitchen. Also, it has a built in rotisserie, and even a smoker to do authentic ‘cue.

Lovely.
Ok, so for the recipe. It is very strong flavored, so for thin steaks, whether tri tip or marinated skirt steak, I only marinate for 4 hours or so. For a tri tip roast, I marinate 24-48 hours.
